Exit Guide Program Criteria:
Criteria for a Member's Acceptance into the Exit
Guide Program
- You must be cognitively functional.
- You must be physically strong enough to perform
the required tasks.
- You must have an incurable condition which causes
intolerable suffering.
- You must understand the "window of opportunity"
which exists while you still have the mental and physical capability
to perform the required activities.
- You must be able to procure the items required for your use.
Circumstances for Denying Acceptance into the Exit
Guide Program
- When security of those who may be present at the
time of death cannot be guaranteed.
- When family, friends, or caregivers know about
the patient's plans and are strongly opposed.
- When the Exit Guide is uncomfortable with
either of the above circumstances.
